INTUIZIONE E INTENZIONE: mono-prints of the new millenium.
Originally conceived as autonomous monotypes, I later decided that ‘INTUIZIONE/INTENZIONE’ should only be seen together as a single piece made of multiples.
I imagine identity as a blend of individuality, collectivity, past, and present.
Featuring a myriad of gestures becoming static on paper, it offers a visual analog to something I term "purposeless gesture", a systematic untangling of the effects of time, movement, and geography on the formation of personal identity.
The piece exists only at a conceptual level: on its return to the real, it is meant to self disassembly in time. Only a record of the action will remain but the unity will be dismantled in time, either naturally or by deliberate action.
I use paper not solely as a surface but as a medium itself. Errors are an equal part of a piece as any deliberate gesture and have the necessity of calibrating the inner connections of the work with my own perception of it.
I do not make any efforts to reduce them, I actually welcome the fact that things happen in a certain moment or period of time, beyond my control. I do not wish to have control at all, at any stage, apart from the openness of the initial mantra-like sound of the preparation.
I just happen to be present in that very same place at that very same moment.
My art transcends any decision, intuition, and intention: it matures autonomously and grows till its energy flows onto the next piece. This process goes on indefinitely.
What is left is one massive unity of non-intentional episodes. I leave it to rest every time I close the door of my studio behind me. but there is something new every time I back to it.
